AC031S/32S safety monitor: New functionality SAFETY AT WORK Date: 5/18/2009

Feature #1: Control of safety output modules Application: Shut off multiple motors on a single conveying zone Advantage: Safety output module reduces wiring complexity; less wire to run back to main control panel.

Feature #1: Control of safety output modules Typical configuration layout shown above. AC031S or 32S has an additional integrated node built into the safety monitor located at terminal AS-IS AC031S/32S 1234567

Feature #1: Control of safety output modules In order to control the safe output modules, the AS-IS terminals must be wired back to the AS-I + and - AS-IS is treated like a safety node and will take an address on the current network. You might need to reconfigure the AS-i master when the AS-IS terminal has been addressed. AC031S/32S

Feature #1: Control of safety output modules The address for the AS-IS terminal is given in the ASIMON software v3.00 or greater (as shown above). In this example, we will provide an address 29. Note: This address is NOT the monitor address! For feedback indication, a safety monitor address can be given as well. The monitor address and AS-IS address are two separate entities. Address selection for the AS-IS terminal *Make sure to check “Actuator”

Feature #1: Control of safety output modules Whether you use the AC031S or AC032S monitor, you must have logic in the 2 nd OSSD (2 nd safety zone) to control the safety output modules. The safety output modules will follow this logic. In our example, this is the logic for the AS-IS terminal; address 29. AC030S safety output modules are control by the logic in the 2 nd OSSD

Feature #1: Control of safety output modules The AC030S has a small dip switch on the front of the unit for programming the addresses on the unit. R= Run or P=Program In run mode, the module will act as a extended addressing module with 4 standard non safe inputs (This is the normal operation mode) In program mode, you will teach the address of the safety monitor (AS-IS) you want the module to listen to. *Note: This address will not take a physical address on the AS-I system Switch back into run mode when complete AC030S

Feature #1: Control of safety output modules In the above example, 2- AC030S have been added to the system to safely shut off motors. In normal operation, the 2- AC030S modules above will mimic the 2 nd safety zone of the safety monitor. Both units are listening and will change state based on the AS-IS terminal addressed at 29. 29 9A/ Listen to 29 8A/ Listen to 29 AC031S/32S

Feature #2: Communication to a second SAW network Application: Communicate status to a second SAW network for global shutdown of both systems Advantage: In the past, a separate safety module was required on the second network to perform the same task. This has been eliminated with the new safety monitors.

Feature #2: Communication to a second SAW network Typical configuration above with two separate safety networks AC031S or 32S has an additional integrated node built into the safety monitor located at terminal AS-IS

Feature #2: Communication to a second SAW network The AS-IS terminals are wired to the AS-I + and – of the second safety network In the example, node 29 (AS-IS) will now appear in the second safety network.

Feature #2: Communication to a second SAW network The AS-IS terminals are wired to the AS-I + and – of the second safety network In the example, node 29 (AS-IS) will now appear in the second network. Address selection for the AS-IS terminal *Make sure to check “Input Slave”

Feature #2: Communication to a second SAW network The address of the AS-IS terminal will act like a standard safety slave on the second safety network.
