6 DEFINE THE TOPIC What are values? Do values differ from one person to another? What values generally, do people have in common? Do values differ from one culture to another?

7 PERSONALIZE THE TOPIC What do you value? What does your family value? –Do you share all the same values, or are there conflicts? How do you resolve conflicting values with family, friends, etc.,?

8 CHALLENGE THE TOPIC Can the same thing be a “rule”, a “right”, & a “value”? –How? Sometimes values are imposed upon you, such as the educational values at a school. –How can you remain true to your values & meet the school’s educational values?

10 ASSIGNMENT #8: CON’T In small groups, share your lists. Then write down 7 values on which your group comes to consensus. Groups will share lists with the class & the class will come to consensus on the top 7-8 values.

11 COMPARE RULES, WITH RIGHTS, WITH VALUES LISTS How do the lists have in common? How are they different? How can we combine them into a class policy for how we want to be treated in class?

16 DEFINE THE TOPIC What is fun? How many different kinds of fun are there? Is “fun” different for adults? –Give examples to support your thoughts.

17 PERSONALIZE THE TOPIC When have you seen people laughing & you didn’t think it was very funny? Why didn’t you think it was funny? How did it make you feel to see people laughing at something you did not think was funny? What did you want to do or say?

18 CHALLENGE THE TOPIC When isn’t fun, funny? Is school supposed to be fun? –Why or why not? How can we have more fun in class & still learn all we need to know?

19 ASSIGNMENT #8: In your small group, make up a lesson for this class: –that would really be fun for you & –that you think would be fun for other students too. Lessons will be shared orally in class. Lessons voted best by classmates could be used in this class.
