6. Effects of Alcohol This is a picture of cirrhosis of the liver. Cirrhosis is a disease of the liver caused by chronic damage to the liver cells from drinking alcohol. This can cause liver failure which can kill you. The damaged liver is dark in color and hard. A healthy liver should be pink in color and soft. Slide 6
