(ongoing)—Mon-Wed Day 1 Bell Work Question: Why are study skills and test taking skills important in school and the workplace? Explain your answer.

3 Monday Day 1–Daily Agenda Begin Bell Work Question and Discuss Introduce Unit 2 – 21 st Century Learner Toolbox on Study Skills and Test Taking Skills & Explain Purpose Students write notes on voc. words & strategies Teacher will discuss Study Skills Voc. 4 Monday –Voc. Words Test Taking Skills/Study Skills Vocabulary Words for Test Taking and Study Skills: Teacher will discuss voc. words on above skills and students will write voc. words in their ICT1 Notebook study skills: strategies and techniques that learners use in order to understand and remember new material, often in preparation for a test. They are critical to success in school, are considered essential for achieving good grades, and are useful for learning throughout one’s life cramming: The practice of working intensively to absorb large volumes of information in short amounts of time. Often used by youth who have not utilized studying time properly. Generally considered to be a poor strategy that does not result in long-term learning procrastination: The act of putting off or delaying an action until a later time comprehension: understanding the meaning or importance of something strategy: the skilled use of a method or plan passage: one or several paragraphs on a certain subject matter evidence: information that proves or disproves something

Career: an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person's life and with opportunities for progress Career Cluster: a concept that provides students with a context for studying traditional academics and learning the skills specific to a career and provides U.S. schools with a structure for organizing or restructuring curriculum, offering classes composed around a common theme, such as interest Certificates: a document serving as evidence or as written testimony, as of status, qualifications, privileges, or the truth of something Education: information about or training in a particular field or subject IHL (Institutions of Higher Learning): refers to an institution beyond the high school level, such as academies, universities, colleges, seminaries, institutes of technology, and certain other collegiate-level institutions, such as vocational schools, trade schools, and career colleges, that award academic degrees or professional certifications. Postsecondary Education: tertiary education, also referred to as third stage, third level, and post-secondary education, is the educational level following the completion of a school providing a secondary education, such as a high school, secondary school, university-preparatory school, or gymnasium. Salary: a fixed regular payment, typically paid on a monthly or biweekly basis but often expressed as an annual sum, made by an employer to an employee. Secondary Education: education beyond the elementary grades; provided by a high school or college preparatory school Skills: particular abilities to perform tasks well Training: the action of teaching a person a particular skill or type of behavior Wage: A fixed regular payment, typically paid on a daily or weekly basis, made by an employer to an employee, usually a manual or unskilled worker. Workforce: the people engaged in or available for work, either in a country or area or in a particular company or industry
