2 You’ve come a long way…. 27% said "gigabyte" as an insect commonly found in South America.  11% said they thought HTML — was a sexually transmitted disease. 42% said a "motherboard" was "the deck of a cruise ship."  23% thought an "MP3" was a "Star Wars" robot.  18% identified "Blu-ray" as a marine animal.  15% said they believed "software" is comfortable clothing.  12% said "USB" is the acronym for a European country.  Despite the incorrect answers, 61% of the respondents said it is important to have a good knowledge of technology.

4 Our Purpose: K-4 RCOP Goals:
To cultivate, document and assess engaging and authentic teaching, learning and assessment practices with technology To collaborate on research that contributes new understandings and empirical evidence of effective implementation of emerging technologies with elementary students

5 Purpose Investigate the role of technology in supporting learners’ increased participation and achievement in environments where there are diverse cognitive abilities (including students with intellectual disabilities and students identified as gifted) . Build and share expertize around the design and implementation of inclusive, innovative ‘learning spaces’ at the Junior High level where technology is leveraged to create flexible pathways to success. Hence this project. Our purpose is to……

Requires: Commitment to participation and sharing Three dimensions to professional learning in this project. Face-to-face communities of practice Professional learning on-line activities Engaging in social media and developing PLNs – personal Learning Networks.

9 Learning and Technology Policy Framework.
Policy Direction 1: Student-Centred Learning Technology is used to support student-centred, personalized, authentic learning for all students. Policy Direction 2: Research and Innovation Teachers, administrators and other education professionals read, review, participate in, share and apply research and evidence-based practices to sustain and advance innovation in education. Policy Direction 3: Professional Learning Teachers, administrators and other education professionals develop, maintain and apply the knowledge, skills and attributes that enable them to use technology effectively, efficiently and innovatively in support of learning and teaching. Policy Direction 4: Leadership Education leaders establish policy and governance structures, cultivate innovation and build capacity within the system to leverage technology in support of student-centred learning and system efficiencies. Policy Direction 5: Access, Infrastructure and Digital Learning Environments All students, teachers, administrators and other education professionals have access to appropriate devices, reliable infrastructure, high-speed networks and digital learning environments.
