2 Outline Notes What is it?  a general plan of the material that is to be presented  shows the order of the various topics  the relative importance of each  the relationship between the various parts Various Ways to Order Arrange an Outline  a chronological arrangement (much like a timeline; an order of occurrence in time)*  to go from the general to the specific (most common). This means you begin with a general idea and then support it with specific examples. *  a spatial arrangement (how things are arranged in space…location proximity)

3 Dick Gregory’s “Remembering an Incident” (Class Notes)  What characteristics make this story powerful?  What are the various feelings the speaker experiences throughout this piece?  List emotions that Gregory evokes from his readers?  Which part of this story brought out the strongest emotion from you? What was this emotion?
