I include plenty of fruits, vegetables, and grain products such as rice, and bread in my eating plan. 3. I cut away visible fat or choose lower-fat meats and remove the skin from chicken. 4. I make an effort to trade off my intake of fried foods and other foods I think might be high in fat with lower-fat foods. 5. I taste food before salting it. 6. I choose nutritious snacks. 7. I eat the recommended servings from the five food groups from the Food Guide Pyramid. 8. I follow a nutritious eating plan at breakfast every day. 9. 4 Lesson 5.1: Nutrition Today’s Objectives: Explain the relationship between nutrition, quality of life, and disease. List the six basic nutrients in maintaining health.

Nutrition: Why is good nutrition important? It is important because it enhances your quality of life and helps to prevent disease. It also provides you with the calories and nutrients your body needs for maximum energy and wellness. Calories: the units of heat that measure the energy used by the body and the energy that foods supply to the body.

Question? Is peer pressure a positive or negative influence on food choice?

Hunger and Appetite: What is the difference between hunger and appetite? One is a physical need for food and the other is psychological desire for food. Hunger Hunger: a natural physical drive that protects you from starvation Appetite Appetite: a desire rather than a need, to eat.

Hunger or Appetite: 1. You eat because you are bored. 2. You eat because your stomach is “grumbling.” 3. You reward yourself with a food treat when you have achieved a goal. 4. You eat a dessert because it looks good. 5. You eat because you have a headache and have eaten very little today.

Nutrition for Life At what time in my life is nutrition important? For my entire life time! Good eating habits are developed early in life. Proper nutrition is essential during the teenage years to ensure maximum growth.
