12 CPS Initiative in 2010 – 2011 to revamp HS Course Catalog First used in planning calendar for the 2011 – 2012 school year First results will be seen in student transcripts January 2012 Some of the Benefits Reduce number of courses offered Establish a consistent course structure that supports all aspects of a course (e.g., course content, level, credit awarded) Lay the groundwork for implementation of Academic Planner which depends on a consistent structure New Course Numbers - Syntax Subject area/Graduation Category (First 5 digits) Semester content (digit 6) Course Level (digit 7) Note change for Significantly modified courses S is now 0 CPS Course Catalog Project

13 Ongoing project to convert existing student historical course credits to new course number format Course Number Conversion Process Convert the currently separate fields for Subject #, Course Content (Semester Content) and Course Level into single course number Example Algebra 1 course: Current: Course number = 41330, Course Content = 1, Course Level = R New: Course Number = 413301R Data Fixes Ongoing project at some schools to fix Course Content values New Course Numbers will replace SIM Historical course numbers and Unofficial Transcript Report course numbers Conversion will occur in concert with Academic Planner rollout CPS Course Catalog – Course Number Format/Conversion
