3 Why are things coloured ? A yellow object reflects the yellow part of the white light which hits it. It absorbs all the other colours. A blue object reflects the blue part of the white light which hits it. It absorbs all the other colours.

5 Why are things black and white ? A white object reflects all of the white light which hits it. So it looks white. A black object absorbs all of the white light which hits it. So no light is reflected and it looks black.
