19 19 Region/Section Education Pilot Program l In 2007, provide free access to 1-3 course modules to be used to supplement Region, Section or Chapter educational activities l Program outline will include recommended best practices: l Recruiting of local expert speaker to act as Subject Mater Expert (SME) to present the course at a meeting l Provide student branches the opportunity to assist w/ administration and network with community l Use the event to promote IEEE membership l Attendees receive CEUs in exchange for completion of feedback surveys

20 20 IEEE Expert Now Pilot Program Activities To Date l So far – The first pilot event was held by the Singapore Section in September 2006 and had 137 participants. Program included: l Presentation of three IEEE Expert Now courses accompanied by local expert speakers on chosen topics l Membership drive l Professional networking opportunity l In the works – Pilot events are being planned in Regions 2, 4 and 8

28 28 EA web portal redesign What have we done so far? l Reviewed feedback from Continuing Education Focus Groups held in 4Q 2006 l Results indicate the IEEE members general lack of knowledge about our professional development products & services l Reviewed 2006 usability surveys l Partnering with usability experts to learn how to structure content and navigation to create clearer task paths for all of our users l Completed existing content audit

29 29 EA web portal redesign Next Steps l Completed an Information Architecture (IA) document l Working with partners to developing new wireframes based on IA l Developing a new course catalog database and web application to manage course content for all EA professional development products l Create prototype to test usability of wireframes by 1 October 2007 l Launch newly improved site by 1 st Qtr 2008 l Provides the web framework to achieve the IEEE goal of one-stop-shop for continuing education
