Pauline Schult BE VEGGIE

PROJECT ABOUT BEING A VEGETARIAN Start: September 15th, 2014 End: October 15th, 2014

CONTENT Facts Reasons Experience Result Sources

FACTS Scandals (e.g. molded meat) Dangerous chemicals and unknown substances Horse meat mixed in “beef“ burgers…. (Horrible) living conditions: ONE person takes care of about 40.000 chickens and 2.000 pigs

REASONS Animals The right to live The right of a painless life (especially chicken endure great pain during their lifetime) Humane Methods of Slaughter 3)

REASONS Health Diseases of the animals are in their meat Animals get medicine and calmative agents which automatically enter our body by eating their meat. The plants that the animals eat are sprayed with pesticides, which settle in their meat as well. All in all, meat is full of toxic substances.

REASONS Water The animals drink a whole bunch The production wastes a lot of water For instance: production of 1kg Steak uses about 12.000l And that‘s only 1kg. Imagine how many kilograms of meat one person eats. Multiply this number by the amount of people that eat meat- just in your country. Rediculous how many animals had to suffer and die, huh?

EXPERIENCE At first: Wasn‘t too easy Hard to abstain while the family eats meat For instance: 09-21-14, we had a family dinner -> duck, smelled delicious, looked delicious, everybody said it was delicious Instead: I ate more potatoes and vegetables

EXPERIENCE Later on: No appetite for meat Decreasing challenge to abstain from meat/ increasing consumption of different menues Strategies to replace the meat

EXPERIENCE Katharina presents a documentation of this experiment and recipes…

RESULT As soon as I was full I realized that I really don‘t need meat as a meal New food options-> interesting and delicious More energy I do not miss eating meat Happy, since I know I do NOT support the companies that mistreat animals in the worst possible ways (I feel better about myself and within my body!)

RESULT For the future: I will reduce my meat consumption drastically I‘m only going to eat meat at my grandma‘s, I know that the chickens are living a free, good life in her yard Abstain meat since I keep thinking about the way the animal had to suffer and I don‘t want to loose the new fresh feeling about myself Try to convince more people and tell them the truth ! Most people do not know what‘s going on behind the scenes. This has to stop.
