13. Education Technology Services The rubric system is integrated in the Gradebook function. After setting up a gradebook item as normal, you attach a rubric.

14. Education Technology Services Click “Select Rubric” to go to the rubric library and attach the rubric to the assignment.

15. Education Technology Services The “Attach a Rubric” screen pops up. Here you click “select a rubric”. A list of available rubrics will appear. The rubrics are created using a rubric wizard. The wizard is very flexible.

16. Education Technology Services We see a list of available rubrics and pick the one we want by clicking “Select”. This is a shared library of rubrics. Each faculty/instructor can create their own rubric, use one that someone else created, or modify one that is already created to make it their own.

20. Education Technology Services Add comments to give the student tips for improvement. The student gets clear feedback on areas for improvement and also, by seeing the rubric, knows what is expected. It is this level of detail that, in Bloomington, we were cited as in need of improvement by the SPA’s. Click on the cells and the rubric is automatically totaled and scored.

21. Education Technology Services The system calculates the scores based upon how the rubric was initially defined and how it was set up in the rubric assignment screen.

Fall 2009 pilot - comments The iRubric web site is very helpful and the process is very intuitive Now that it is developed, I expect I will use it again next year with minor modifications I REALLY liked it. I think it would be quite helpful to instructors and would provide easy access to data for the quality assurance purposes in the Student Teaching Office. I’d like to be able to type more in the comments section. If there was a way to make it more transparent with the gradebook so students are forced to see it, that would be helpful Education Technology Services
