Victorian Jobs for children Poor Victorian children worked for money so they could survive a longer period of time. Unluckily most didn’t succeed.

Trapper A trapper was the youngest member of the family underground. They opened and closed doors to waft fresh air into the mines. They would sit in darkness for 12 hours at a time and it could be boring and dangerous. If they fell asleep the whole mine could be in danger because the was no clean air to breath in.

Chimney Sweeps Starting at age five to six children cleaned dust and soot from rich people’s chimney's and if they got stuck or got scared, they lit the fire or poked you with a pin! If a child got stuck, they could tie the boys leg and pull him down instead of dismantling the chimney!

Scavengers Children in factories often crawled under machines and often worked for sixteen hours at a time. Also lots of children lost fingers or got squished to death.

It was very hard working in Victorian times and I personally prefer my life but you might like the idea of working at that time in history.
