There is no need to do any writing or bring in any paperwork. Fantastic Friday – Friday 27 th June Children who are on packed lunch or home dinners during the week have the option of having a school dinner on a Friday. This is at a cost of £1.90. The menu is: Cheese and onion lattice with chips, fish and chips, jacket potato, baked beans, and small ice cream tub. Week 1 menu will be served next week. To be ready for : Friday 27 th June 2014 Please talk to your child about the topic for their class. They will be writing about it on Friday and your discussions will really help. You could talk about the great ideas and words that they could use. Thank you. Reception Story telling activity! Think of a ‘who’, ‘where’, ‘when’, ‘what happened’ and an ‘end’ and then make up a short story. Year 1 Can you think of some rhyming words with an adult about a sea creature? Try to make up a small poem! Year 2 Tell your grown up all about Martin Mere. What did you do? What did you like the best? Year 3 Talk to an adult about the different wildlife you see in the local area. Where do the different animals live? Year 4 Re-cap features of a non-chronological report. What do you need to include? Year 5 Retell one of your favourite chapters from ‘King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table’. Remember to use words suitable for a legend. Year 6Discuss the play with your adult. What went well etc. Generate ideas for a review of the performance. What were their ideas? Key Stage 2 performance A big thank you to all of you for coming to watch our Key Stage 2 performance of ‘Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies’. It was lovely to see so many of you. I’m sure you will agree, all the children put on an amazing performance. I would also like to thank all of the Key Stage 2 staff for all the time and effort they have put into making this wonderful performance come together. Costumes, scenery and the performance as a whole would not be the same without their input. One of our Year 1 parents, Mrs Khatir, is holding an exhibition of her abstract work at Blackburn College. Go along to the Victoria Building, Level 4 and view some of the amazing pieces of work that she has created. Exhibition running until Friday 27 th June, 6pm-8:30pm. Recycling for School Sacred Heart, with the Recycling Factory, are introducing an ink and toner cartridge recycling scheme in school. For every cartridge the Recycling Factory are able to recycle successfully, they will pay school £1. If you have any empty cartridges, please bring them to school and help raise funds for your school. Thank you. Healthy Schools – If your child brings a packed lunch, can you please send them into school with a healthy dinner. There has been a high number of children who have been bringing chocolates/crisp for their lunch. A small treat can be given to your child on Friday. Thank you. There are still a nigh number of children being picked up from outside the school gate at the end of the school day. It is very important that all children are picked up from the school playground, where the class teacher can clearly see the child has been picked up. Children will not be allowed out of the playground until their adult has picked them up from their teacher. Reminder There are still a lot of children being collected from school at the end of the day from behind the school railings. It is very important that parents/carers collect their child from the correct place. A reminder of collecting points: Reception – please collect your child from the reception class door. Year 1 and Year 2 – please collect your child from the double doors on St Silas Road. Year 3 to Year 6 – please collect your child from the school playground. Please note – children in Year 4 to Year 6 are allowed to walk home on their own provided we have a permission slip returned to school. Thank you.
