8 © 2010 Dr. Emeric Solymossy - All Rights Reserved Global Exposure By knowing the locations of countries and the distances between them, managers in the global marketplace are able to make more informed decisions. Knowing the geography of a place also gives managers insight into the culture of the people living there. Because international managers must know where borders meet, it will be necessary for you to refer to current maps (available on the Internet) to make certain they reflect recent changes in national political boundaries. As the global marketplace continues to absorb previously isolated countries, each one of us needs a thorough grasp of the global landscape. Try to answer the following 20 questions. I urge you to consult the map frequently in order to refresh your memory of the global landscape and especially when you encounter the name of an unfamiliar city or country.
