So was it when my life began; So is it now I am a man; So be it when I grow old, Or let me die! The Child is father of the Man; And I could wish my days to be Bound each to each by natural piety.

7 The Rhyme Scheme of this poem is ABCCABCDD and it contains 9 lines. In this poem Wordsworth is saying that he is excited or moved by natures beauty from when he was born to when he wrote the poem. He states that if he stops seeing nature the way he sees it now then he would rather die. Then he says that he wishes that he could go back to his childhood self and that all children are superior to men because of the way they see the world.

8 This poem was written on March 26, 1802 and finally published in 1807.

9 He believes that children are closer to God which makes them closer to nature because they have just recently come out of the hands of heaven and god when they were born.
