4 3 RD PERIOD DO NOW  Lincoln: There’s constant and average speed. Constant speed means you’re ALWAYS going 60 mph. Avg speed means sometimes you can be faster or slower than 60 but it averages up to 60 mph.  Mt. T: S x t = d  Foss: d/t = S  Wilson: Speed = distance divided by time

14  Rules for debate:  YOU MUST CHOOSE A SIDE. No waffling in between or just sitting in your seat. You can change sides if something you heard someone say convinces you.  YOU MUST SPEAK AT LEAST ONCE. If you’re having a hard time finding something to say, someone can feed you a question or a statement. People can talk more than once only after everyone’s pebble has been deposited.  NO SPEAKING UNLESS YOU HAVE THE BEAKER. The beaker will be passed around from group to group after 2 speakers have gone.  IF YOU’RE GOING TO MAKE A CLAIM, YOU NEED TO ALSO HAVE EVIDENCE TO BACK IT UP. No “This is right because I say so.”

15 2 ND PERIOD  Isabel: measure every single moment to see if speed is constantly the same  Myracal: notebook says speed, if it’s not moving, it’s balanced. Same friction.  Vanderhoff: disagree, bc when going down slope, speed increases and speed slows down bc don’t have same angle  Melanie: hear what you’re saying, balanced bc not moving, but skateboard is unbalanced bc moving.  Ms. Tudor: Quintin, bc skateboard is in motion because if the object is in motion, its unbalanced.  Kha: Skateboard will go at the same speed.  Levi: Agree with Kha because ….  Jaden Wade: Agree with Kha bec since sb is going at same speed, forces are balanced, but if speeds are different, forces are unbalanced  Ghorgeous: It’s not balanced bc added force is pushing it down and frictional forces are pushing it up  Stephanos: Agree with Quintin bc an object in motion is unbalanced, you tend to gain speed as you go downhill. Flats, I slow down.  Vanderhoff: Q bc machines could have been wrong, when you go down a hill, its harder to pedal, skateboard you need more power in legs to go across flat surface  Mr. Milan: Agree with Kha with going down hill, not accelerating but staying at same speed. Friction keeps you at same speed.  Devon: AT top of hill, he was going slow, downhill, he sped up.. Objects in motion can still be balanced forces.  Kha: disagree. Object can speed up or slow down  Ryan: 1 st, Frank and Quintin have same idea about the skateboard moving and are unbalanced.  Mariela: an unbalanced force was acting on an object so its speed changed.
