All living things need water. The Earth is covered in water!

5 Why Do Living Things Need Water?
Water is essential for living things to grow, reproduce, and carry out other important processes. For example, plants need water to go through the process of photosynthesis.

6 Why Do Living Things Need Water?
Another way is that water can be a home, or habitat, which provided the things it needs to survive (food, drink, shelter).

7 Where Is the Water On Earth?
Most of the Earth’s water (about 97% of it) is salt water found in the oceans. The remaining 3% is fresh water. But, more than 2/3 of that is frozen in the North and South Pole, so we only have less than 1% of the world’s water available for drinking!
