3 Fact The nation is experiencing a critical shortage of skilled workers in the nuclear energy sector. The Nuclear Energy Institute reports: “As much as 35 percent of the incumbent work force may be eligible to retire within five years”

4 Fact Consumption of electricity continues to increase.
The Center for Energy Workforce Development reports: “Electricity consumption in the United States to grow by at least 40 percent by 2030”

12 Results to date: The Power Plant Institute at IRSC graduated 25 students in August of 2008 MDC’s Electrical Power Program graduated 12 students in August 2008 New Pipelines are currently full: 24 students in IRSC and 30 in MDC Significant number of program candidates on waiting list at MDC and IRSC. Planning to start a New Power Plant Institute for NLO and RP and Chemistry Technicians.
