2 What is Enactus? A community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world.

4 How does it work? Each team must have at least one Faculty Advisor

5 How does it work? Students create an Enactus Team

6 How does it work? Students start, develop and manage Enactus projects themselves

7 How does it work? At the end of the year, all teams have a chance to showcase the impact they’ve achieved and to compete for a national championship title at their annual competitive event

9 What is the Enactus Judging Criterion? Considering the relevant economic, social and environmental factors, which Enactus team most effectively empowered people in need by applying business and economic concepts and an entrepreneurial approach to improve their quality of life and standard of living?

10 What are “relevant economic, social and environmental factors”? Triple bottom line concept - Profits, People, Planet Due consideration should be given to the three factors although one or more may have greater relevance for a particular project

11 Who are “people in need”? Any potential group lacking in the particular focus area of the team’s project Audiences arenot limited to simply the poor, disadvantaged, or marginalized in society

12 What is “applying business and economic concepts and an entrepreneurial approach?” Creation of economic opportunities through the application of a business mindset Creativity, innovation and an entrepreneurial culture reflected throughout the team’s efforts

13 What is considered “quality of life and standard of living?” Quality of Life: –Non-material –Social, cultural and emotional circumstances Standard of Living –Material –Physical, financial and environmental circumstances

14 Project Example – Street Stories More than 4,000 people in Melbourne are homeless The Enactus team at the University of Melbourne saw an opportunity for these individuals to generate income and engage with the broader community.

15 Project Examples The team set up a tour business with homeless individuals as guides, providing walking tours of Melbourne Customers have a chance to discover unseen aspects of the city as well as a unique insight into the daily experience of a homeless person in that area

16 Project Examples The project has increased awareness about homelessness, while helping homeless individuals gain valuable skills and needed income.
