IEEE POCO Meeting 16-18 July 2009, Prague Prof. Jozef Modelski Conferences in Region 8 Over 300 conferences are held annually, sponsored by the IEEE (Most of these events are under the technical co-sponsorship, without financial contribution of the IEEE) All events play the meritorical and essential role in the building of our global organization: - networking in new or less powerful countries/Sections, - showing the specificity of the organization structure and operation - creating the IEEE good image worldwide In most low-income countries (LIC) the conference fee is kept at the reasonable level Voluntary Contribution Fund (VCF) program to help members from the LIC's to attend IEEE conferences in R8
