4 Purpose of Session Raise awareness of the current situation regarding Child Sexual Exploitation in Sunderland Raise awareness of the current situation regarding Child Sexual Exploitation sub-regional working arrangements across Sunderland, South Tyneside and Gateshead Launch and familiarise staff with new SSCB Child Sexual Exploitation procedures Raise awareness of the work of the SSCB Sexual Exploitation and Missing Group and the role of multi- agency staff in this process

18 Prevention Sunderland agencies recognise the need to prevent children and young people becoming involved in sexual exploitation

19 Actions for Prevention Promoting awareness and understanding of the issue with young people Promoting high quality sex and relationships education in schools to include teaching young people about sexual consent Offering schools drama based productions to raise the issue with young people Work will also be undertaken with parents and carers to support them in recognising the signs and symptoms as well as identifying vulnerability Workforce development will form an integral part of the prevention strategy

20 Group Exercise Some real cases with slight changes In your group consider the case studies Identify a scribe to complete the feedback template Consider the following questions for each case study: –Is this case/situation something you would be concerned about? Why would you be concerned? –What action would you take and why? Identify someone to feedback to the main group
