Match Scouting Tutorial 2015 By Team 1403’s Strategy Team

Tablet Care, Rotation, and Basics

Tablet Care ● Do not put near liquids or food because they are expensive! ● Do not drop/throw tablets ● Be gentle when handling the tablets ● Hold the tablet with two hands ● DO NOT download any other apps or games or alter the settings

Tablet Rotation ● After your set of matches ends, hand the tablet to the person assigned to scout the next set of matches with that tablet ● If you don’t find that person, notify a strategy member ● There is always a strategy member assigned to match scouting control. Notify them if the battery is low (<20%) or if anything goes wrong with the tablet

Basics ● To turn on → hold smaller button on right ● To get into Memento Database → click on folder icon on bottom of screen ● To make a new entry in match scouting/pit scouting → click the plus sign on top right corner ● After all information that is needed is filled out, click Done on top left corner

Headings Headings (autonomous, teleop, cycling, general, etc) are all caps and are designed to clearly stand out in the form They are next to check boxes. Do not check them.

What is autonomous? 15 second period at the start of the match Drive teams are not allowed to touch the controls Teams will get points based on their actions, with some actions giving bonus points

Mobility Points The robot moves to the auto zone from either the left, middle or right of the staging zone or the landfill zone The robot must be completely in the auto zone (The auto zone is in between the stage zone and landfill zone) This is checked even if no points are scored for robot set, since we are scouting individual robots, not alliances

Tote Points Points are scored for moving all yellow totes or recycling containers into auto zone Note if robot assists in the stacking of yellow totes Note if robot makes a stack of yellow totes by itself

What if the robot doesn’t move during autonomous? Pronounced “auto dead” (may still have capabilities for performance for the teleop period) Remember, the robot does not get mobility points if is not completely in the auto zone.

Coopertition Robots from opposing alliances work together to stack totes (only the yellow ones) on the step in the middle of the field This is done towards the end of the match.

Teleop

Interaction with the Totes CHECK ALL THAT APPLY ● Picks up from field ● Plows (pushing) ● Contains (trapping) ● upside down totes ● right side up totes ● sideways totes ● receives from human player station --> Number of Totes contained in Robot (integer)

Interaction with Recycling Containers CHECK ALL THAT APPLY ● Picks up from staging zone (area near player station) ● Picks up from step (in middle of arena)

Interaction with Litter CHECK ALL THAT APPLY ● From ground ● From human player station ● Plows to landfill (pushes to in front of step) ● Picks up

Stacking Stacking Strategy-CHECK ALL THAT APPLY ● From bottom (insert totes under stack) ● From top (stack the tote on top) ● None (does not contain stacks of totes) ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS: ● What level can they stack to? (how many totes high?) ● Totes scored on stack of how many totes? (highest # of totes in preexisting stack robot can add to) ● Recycling container scored on stack of how many totes? (highest # of totes robot can add to a recycling container to)

Cycling and Subjective Questions

Cycle First cycle starts when autonomous ends and telop begins. Cycle ends when a robot scores any points. points a robot can score in teleop are by scoring totes, recycling containers, or litter The number of points scored does not matter: a cycle can consist of one tote or six Check cycle # and fill out set of questions for each cycle

General Questions Acceleration(speed--how quickly robot can change its speed): fast, average, or slow. Mobility of the robot: good, medium, or poor. Driver’s ability: good, medium, or poor. Human player ability: good, medium, or poor.

Actions Did it knock over a stack(s)? Did it tip over? If it tipped over, did become upright again? Was the robot dead or malfunctioning during the match? Did it recover from its malfunction or death?

Comments Write down any unique traits or anything you think can’t be seen through the data collected but is important for us to know
