3 Thesis Even dough there is Minimum Wage through out the United States And is growing every couple of years But still it is not enough to live And should be increased.

4 Background A minimum wage is the lowest hourly, daily or monthly wage that employers may legally pay to employees or workers.wage It is the lowest wage at which workers may sell their labor. Minimum wags were first instituted in Australia and New Zealand

6 Who makes Minimum Wage? Congress are the decision makers of minimum wage. Now knowing what Minimum wage is Do you think congress is making a good decision on are income that we live off?

7 Democrats vs. Republicans Democrats in Congress will continue to press for a vote on raising the Minimum Wage. Most Republicans, they have that business interests and are traditional economists strongly oppose raising the Minimum Wage.

8 Congress Failing to raise the Federal Minimum Wage in some way every person is related to people who are working, and only getting paid Minimum Wage, that is not enough to live off. Congress knows and still, they don’t do anything to change the minimum wage.

9 The Business view Forcing employers to pay more for labor will prompt them to cut jobs “period. Some argue that every ten percent increase in the minimum wage result in a loss of 100,000 Jobs

16 Workers need the increase on Minimum Wage; it will help the Economy Boosting Wage will cause more production & Purchasing Power; like Oil to the Economy Wheel. Increasing the Minimum Wage would also help local economies because low-income workers would have more money to spend.

17 Purchasing Power Purchasing power is the number of goods/services that can be purchased with a unit of currency.

18 Its just Unfair for the Workers, and who are the Workers? Society, and who is Society? YOU! A full time minimum wage worker supporting a family makes just $10,712 per year, well below the poverty line for a family of three. 24% teen unemployment rate, further adding to the up-hill battle teens face when seeking employment.

19 Minimum Wage is way too low for Society (YOU the people) A single full-time (Estimating 40h/a week) minimum-wage worker earns $8,840 a year. That amount is just barely above the Poverty level.

20 Poverty Poverty refers to the condition of not having the means to afford basic human needs such as clean water, nutrition, health care, education, clothing and shelter.

21 Welfare In the 1930’s it was a type of payment for the poor. There goal to strive and to promote the basic well-being of individuals in need. Its something like a safety Net.

22 Welfare Vs. Minimum Wage Many who favor raising the minimum wage argue that welfare benefits currently pay better than a minimum wage Job a higher minimum will create an incentive for those who are on welfare to find Work

23 The Public Cries Out to Minimum Wage Some people want us to believe that the typical minimum- wageworker is a teenager flipping hamburgers. That’s simply not the case. Most Minimum- Wage workers are over 20 years old.

24 States Responses to Cost-of-Living Since the federal minimum wages was last raised in 1997 at least 15 states plus Washington D.C have raised their own minimum wage as a response to cost-of-Living increase in those states

27 A Moral Issue Many people consider raising the minimum wage to be a moral issue. A matter of doing the right thing for people who work hard and wants to get out of poverty People in the U.S are working as hard as they can yet making barely enough Money to Survive.
