19 Teacher Material Cling-on White Board Dry erase markers Oxford New Picture Dictionary-1 per class Curriculum Copy of student book Copy of the Bible –NOTE this is not the same translation used in the curriculum

20 Preparing Lessons Pick Discussion Activities from Reading and Conversation 1 st Then you can select which English activities and vocabulary to teach Pick one more activity then you think you will need Each activity has B,I or A listed by the title-these represent what level of student –Pick the letter that represents your class

21 The Lesson Plan This is an excellent tool to help you plan your lessons List activities/discussions Materials needed What vocabulary you will teach

22 Activities Look at activities and estimate how long it will take to do How many you need to do to fill time Add 1 more –This is used as a back-up if one activity is a flop –Prepared if class goes smoothly and you have left-over time to fill

23 Icebreaker Used to get the class talking Very fun Fast moving Review of previous vocabulary and/or grammar point

24 Vocabulary After you select the Reading & Conversation activities want to do, you will then select the vocabulary that will be necessary to accomplish the conversation part of class

25 Idiom Hard to do Something the student wants to use Use it in a sentence Find a similar idiom in their country Use it through out the day

26 Grammar Very small part of the class Use the grammar point as you teach vocabulary Be prepared to answer some grammar questions-a general grammar book is a great tool to have in class

27 Writing This is a wonderful way for the students to open up to you. Given every other day –Giving you a chance to read the assignments Give it as homework or as part of the class –If homework expect the assignment to be longer in length –In class this will limit what the student writes

28 Reading and Conversation The text in the curriculum will vary from the Bible we give the students There are transition questions to help tie in the English theme to the Bible story Helpful to have one of the students read the Bible story from their own language, so they understand

29 Homework Optional Can be the writing assignment Does not have to be given daily

30 TPR Total Physical Response Stand up Sit down Walk to window Pick up blue book All are examples of TPR Use as icebreaker Especially useful for the lower level students

31 Corrections Done only in the classroom Demonstrate the correct way to pronounce, if they still mispronounce, it may be due to the inability to form the sound

32 Rewards Verbal praise is the best form of rewarding the student / class for a job well done. Small stickers Pieces of candy When doing team activities, have the winners take a bow

33 Closing Ceremony This will be designed with the host A completion certificate will be given to each student signed by their teacher/s Families and community is invited
