10 GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS ARE FOR GEORGIA SCHOOLS Graduation requirements are set forth by Georgia’s Board of Regents which establishes the admissions requirements for Georgia’s colleges and universities. Students should check the admissions requirements of the particular college they wish to attend For example, the University of South Carolina requires a Fine Art credit

12 TECHNICAL COLLEGE Many throughout the State ALL students are eligible for the HOPE Grant The HOPE Grant has no GPA requirement for high school graduation Will have regular interval check points, just like the HOPE Scholarship, to maintain HOPE Grant students will need a 2.0 GPA For further details please visit the Georgia Student Finance Commission at www.gsfc.org/www.gsfc.org/ NEW THIS YEAR: The Zell Miller HOPE GRANT. This program is a retroactive payment plan that will refund your portion of tuition at the conclusion of the semester if you have achieved a 3.5 GPA. This is going to college for FREE!

25 DUAL ENROLLMENT Allows students to take college courses in lieu of high school courses. The courses provide dual credit— fulfilling graduation requirements as well as credits toward a college degree.

26 COLLEGE CREDIT NOW SUMMIT For: Parents of 10 th & 11 th Grade students October 23 rd from 6:30 until 8:00 at the North Cobb High School Presenting colleges will include: Kennesaw State University, Georgia Highlands, Georgia Perimeter College, Chattahoochee Technical Please keep in mind that some schools, like Kennesaw State University, require Dual Enrollment students to have taken the SAT/ACT. KSU’s application deadline is January 15 th, so be sure to sign up the SAT/ACT before the January deadline.

27 COLLEGE FAIRS 100 Black Men of Atlanta 2013 College Fair is Saturday, October 4th, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) – Building C-4 (off of Northside Drive in Atlanta). Turner Chapel AME Education Ministry College Fair is Sat. Oct. 27 th, 2012 from Noon-3 pm, at the Chapel in Marietta East Cobb Area High Schools will host a spring semester College Fair at Sprayberry High School on March 2015.

28 NCAA Academic Credentials + Amateurism Status = College Eligible What are the Academic Initial-Eligibility Requirements? 1. Graduate from high school; 2. Complete a minimum of 16 core courses; 3. Present the required grade-point average (GPA) (see the sliding scale in the Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete for each Division); 4. Present a qualifying test score on either the ACT or SAT (see the sliding scale in the Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete); and 5. Complete the amateurism questionnaire and request final amateurism certification.
