1 1 ANURAG COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING MECHANICAL ASSOCIATION (A ushapur (V), Ghatkesar (M), Ranga Reddy (Dt)) Department of Mechanical Engineering MECH4C From Editor’s Desk A warm welcome to all the students of Mechanical Department, who opted Anurag as the platform to achieve their goals. The 5 th volume of Mech4C is back with all the new updates and technology review. This newsletter brings to you about the new principle of operation of 4-stroke IC Engine. Through innovative teaching-learning process a teamwork approach and leadership building experience, the students gain vital communication and critical-thinking skills. InvincibleMech provides a platform for the students to enhance their employability skills through Industry Institute Collaboration. We wish all the Students and Faculty a great academic year. To begin with, I would like to congratulate the members of this newsletter for having taken much effort in bringing out excellent articles and organizing it in a systematic manner. Anurag College of Engineering is striving hard towards the goal of providing innovative and quality education with high standard to achieve academic excellence. The University results declared for last semester have been good and have shown a rising trend due to untiring efforts of our faculty. Hearty welcome to all the Mechanical Freshers and new Faculty.

2 2 Activities conducted & participated through the association An industrial visit was organized to VYBRA Automet, a production unit near Bibi Nagar for the 4 th & 3 rd year Students. The students of 2 nd year had been to an industrial tour to KTPS, Badhrachalam & Vizag. Many seminars were organized by iMECH in which many students have participated. Autofactory’12, an International 3- Day workshop on Engine Design, Simulation and Analysis of complete commercial car by Metawing Groups & SGT International, Germany. It was a grand success with 150 participants from in and around Andhra Pradesh. 3 3 Conventional internal combustion engines operate on the following cycle of four strokes: stroke one intake of air or fuel mixture into the cylinder space above the piston; stroke two compression and ignition of the fuel mixture; stroke three – burning the compressed fuel mixture to obtain useful energy from the expansion of exhaust gases; stroke four displacement of exhaust gases from the cylinder. At that, as the cylinders are phase-shifted, the exhaust gases and liquid are driven into the over-piston space. By the new principle, the fourth stroke is a complete relief of the exhaust gases from the over- piston space of one cylinder into the over-piston space of the other cylinder, provided that the latter is 540° shifted in phase from the first one. The second stroke of the last cylinder would be compressing the received exhaust gases and feeding a neutralizing liquid into the over-piston space. This liquid will serve to neutralize the harmful components of the exhaust and convert its remaining energy into the rotational energy of the crankshaft. The injection of the neutralizing liquid into the cylinder should be done in the end of the second stroke. The third stroke would be evaporating the neutralizing liquid to effectively convert the remaining energy of exhaust at the same time binding its harmful components. In the fourth stroke, the mitigated exhaust would be driven out into the atmosphere along with the vapor. This principle provides for cleaner emissions of the engine and increasing its effectiveness by after-burning the combustion products. The patent also provides a description of a four-stroke engine, employing the new principle. The engine includes a crankshaft; two cylinders, interconnected with a channel line; pistons, placed inside the cylinders and connected to the crankshaft. One of the interconnected cylinders is intended to convert the remaining energy of exhaust gases and neutralize them. It is provided with an injection nozzle to feed the neutralizing liquid. The other cylinder burns the fuel mixture. Another modification of the new engine has two crankshafts arranged in parallel to each other. 4 4 A National Level Technical Fest One of the most important news to be discussed is the technical fest organized by ANRH. Department of Mechanical Engineering has actively took part in the tech fest by conducting many technical events such as, Paper/Poster Presentations, Project Expo, Machine Assembly & Disassembly (MAD), Robotics etc., Students from various institutions have participated in the events which helped them in enhancing their technical skills. Abbreviations: 1.DTSi- Digital Twin Spark Ignition 2.ABS- Anti-lock Braking System 3.CRDI- Common Rail Direct Injection 4.SAE- Society of Automotive Engineers FUN CORNER: FORTH COMING EVENTS Mock Interviews Group Discussions, technical Seminars. Inauguration of Anurag Robotics Club Industrial Tour Our Inspirers: Henry ford (1863-1947): The most famous name in mass production, was born on a farm, but soon realized he was natural engineer. Henry ford was anxious to introduce the motor- car to the masses, to create and satisfy a continuous demand which would lead to increased production, and which would lead to reduction in costs an further increase the demand. Ford brought machines to make the parts quickly and deliver them at the right time at right place, so that the parts could be assembled without delay. This needed a continuous moving assembly line and in 1909 the Ford motor company decided to produce one car of one color black. Thus by mass production Henry ford produced his first model T, the “Tin Lizzie”, a low priced car requiring the minimum of maintenance. 21 st & 22 nd Sept. 1)If you had three apples and four oranges in one hand and four apples and three oranges in the other hand, what would you have? 2)What can you never eat for breakfast?
