2 Roosevelt Takes Charge
Franklin Delano Roosevelt 1933 became the next president of the U.S.A. Promised to change people for the depression and beat President Hoover. The Change was called, “The New Deal”. His wife, Eleanor Roosevelt was deeply involved in helping the country.

3 Putting together a Winning Team
The New Deal is having a way to combat the depression. He was convinced that the Federal Government needed to play an active role in promoting recovery and providing relief to the Americans. To help him plan the New Deal, FDR sought the advice of a diverse group of men and women.

The press nickname these people, “the Brain Trust”. He put two Republicans and women to help FDR to run the country. He depended heavily on his wife.

FDR swiftly restores the Nation's confidence He called Congress into a special session and convinced them to pass laws to shore up the nation’s banking system. The Fireside chats. They became important was for Roosevelt to communicate with the American People.

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Which insure banks up to $5,000 dollars Now it up to $250,000 Helping Farmers by the Agriculture Adjustment Act-help them raise crops prices by killing livestock and destroying excessive crops The TVA Aids Rural Southerners The Tennessee's Valley Authority (TVA) built dams in the Tennessee River valley to control floods

7 Providing Relief and Promoting Industrial Recovery
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) to help young men find jobs by replanting forest, built trails, dug irrigation ditches, and fought fires. This help minority groups, Mexicans Americans, and whites.

The chief complaint is that it made the government to strong. It was destroying free enterprise It threaten individual freedom
