2 Virtual images Real Images A real image is where light rays meet. The light rays that reach your eyes from the direction of the image actually pass through the image. This light rays causes real images. A virtual image is light rays seem to converge after a reflection. Plane mirrors produce only virtual images. Virtual images can also be produced by converging mirrors, when the object is placed between the focus and the mirror.

3 Real images are those where light actually Converges. Whereas virtual images are locations from where light appears to have converged.

4 A real image is a representation of an actual object. To produce a real image you must place a screen,convex mirror or lenses in front the light rays coming from the object. A real image can be produced by concave mirrors or converging lenses

5 A virtual image is a representation of an actual object by diverging light rays. They are produced when light rays seem to be coming from the same spot and appear to be an actual object, but it is just light (has no matter). A plane or a convex mirror can produce a virtual image. The image appears to be behind the mirror.

6 A hologram is an image that appears as a real image when in reality it is a virtual image. A hologram is produced using a real image and reflecting the light off of an object such as a mirror. The mirror produces a three dimensional representation of the real object. Although it looks real, it has no matter.
