1 K-Family Initiatives You and your K-Family members working together!

2 The Circle K Service Initiative is Focusing on the Future: Children So how can we incorporate this into our K-Family Initiative?

3 Health & Safety Issues: “On Call for the Future” Let’s talk about the three areas of the service initiative… After School Programs: “Turn off TV, Turn onto Life” Aug 1 st – Nov 30th Literacy: “ Open a Book, Show Them the World ” Dec 1 st – Mar 31 st Apr 1 st – Jul 31 st

4 After School Programs: “Turn off TV, Turn onto Life” Aug 1st – Nov 30th Circle K clubs should: Provide service to already established after-school programs Initiate their own long-term after-school program Participate occasionally in after-school program projects throughout the year

5 Literacy: “Open a Book, Show Them the World” Dec 1 st – Mar 31st Circle K clubs should: Become involved with improving the scholastic achievement of children

6 Health & Safety Issues: “On Call for the Future” Apr 1 st – Jul 31st Circle K clubs should: Become involved in helping children take car of themselves

7 Your K-Family Initiatives: September Get in contact with your local Kiwanis, Key, Builders, and K-Kids Clubs to get everyone on board! Contact the YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, or after-school programs in your area. Coordinate a date to have the K-Family members come in to lead a project. Find out what is needed in the area: create a memory garden, plan a field day (inside or outside), or help the students with their homework

8 Your K-Family Initiatives: October Working together with your K-Family members and a youth organization, pick another afternoon to do a project Clean up the area surrounding the school or activity center, collect donations for UNICEF, or plan a Halloween carnival

9 Your K-Family Initiatives: November Again, contact your K-family members and a local youth organization to select an afternoon to coordinate and event Coordinate a Thanksgiving Food Drive to set up at the school, activity center, and your K-Family club meetings Have the kids paint the boxes and create flyers for them to bring home to inform their parents of the event In the days before Thanksgiving, donate the items to a local homeless shelter or food bank

10 SO… you have your challenge: Take these initiatives back to your clubs and implement them! Your reward: Working closely with your K-Family members! Serving the youth in your area by getting them involved in their community! Putting your club on track to get an Interclub Award!
