3. The Borrowed Passy By: Momma Kostka and Lori Once, when Lori was one, her mommy lost her passy. Lori was really upset. According to Freud she was upset because she was going through the oral stage of his psycho sexual development. In this stage young ones enjoy sucking, biting, and chewing, which Lori couldn’t do without her passy. So she cried, and cried, and cried. It was getting late so mommy tried to wait for Lori to tire herself out, but that didn’t happen. Finally, mommy couldn’t take it anymore so she went to the neighbors house to ask to borrow one. The nice neighbors lent mommy a passy. Soon afterwards Lori was asleep. THE END

5. The Independent Two Year Old Down in the subburbs of Ashburn, Virginia a two year old, Lori, is quickly becoming independent. She is capable of putting on sun screen (as seen in the picture), getting a snack, speaking her mind, running around, and much more. This has her parents relieved. “This means less work for me,” says her mother, “but is she growing up too fast?” The answer is simply no. She is right on target. Around ages one through three toddlers pass through Erikson’s psycho social developmental crisis of autonomy vs. shame and doubt. Lori’s independence shows she is on the right path. If she wasn’t she would feel embarrassed. This is a stepping stone for the well being of her social health. So to all you parents out there, encourage individuality and when possible teach your children independence.

7. What was my favorite pretend game? You really liked to play with your stuffed animals. You even made us some fake food in the play kitchen a few times. How well did I speak at age three? You could defiantly easily say what you wanted. You were very bossy and well spoken. Overall you were pretty articulate for your age. What words did I have trouble pronouncing? You had difficulties with earth. You said it like “erf.” Spaghetti was another hard one for you and your siblings. What funny illogical things did I say? One time you asked me, “how does lightning know where to strike?” You were always full of goofy questions. As seen in the interview, at age three I represented things with words and images but lacked logical reasoning, played pretend, and was developing language. These are all key characteristics of the pre- operational stage of Piaget’s cognitive development theory.

9. Preschool starts soon... How do I prepare?  Get pencils and other supplies  Put supplies in backpack  Decide what to wear  Find out where my bus stop is  Find out my bus number  Learn my teacher’s name  Remember to bring my name tag This shows Erikson’s psycho social development crisis of initiative vs. guilt because here I am planning; although, I’m sure as a preschooler I had a lot of help from my parents. Learning the importance of planning will help me to feel more independent.

Should they harm other’s to get what they want? It is what Kohlberg, a psychologist who studied moral development, believed young children eventually come to face. Here in the preconventional morality stage, a child operates their morals on whether they will get punishment (part one of this stage- punishment and obedience orientation) or a reward (part two of this stage-naïve hedonism).

13. Congratulations Lori Kostka for being apart of the #1 team. You have learned the pleasure of applying yourself to a task, instead of feeling inferior. 15. This clip art collage shows what I came to understand and do as I passed through Piaget’s concrete- operational stage of development. Children learn to thinking logically, grasp concrete analogies, and performing arithmetical operations. They also learn the concept of conservation, as well as basic math.

17. This collage shows Erikson’s psycho social developmental crisis of identity vs. role confusion because it displays many of my different roles: sports, family, play, friends, and volunteering. I have completed this stage by answering the once confusing question of, “Who am I?” by integrating the roles I enjoy to form my identity! Click to play video
