Community Service Activities Boys and Girls Club Halloween Party: Friday October 30 th from 5:30 – 7:30 It ends early so you can volunteer first and still go out later! Community Service Activities Pumpkin Festival Saturday October 31, @ 12:20 @William Donley School on Lake Lansing and Haggadorn This is an event where we go to an elementary school to assist with all sorts of games and prizes! Its a lot of fun, the kids are great and its early in the day! Please contact varneys1@msu.edu if you or any friends are interested in signing up. Ronald McDonald House Cook dinner for families with children in the hospital. Friday November 6 th @ 5:30 it takes about 2 hours Sign up after meeting or with Sarah : varneys1@msu.edu varneys1@msu.edu

Sparrow Hospital Visit the pediatric patients and cheer up their day! No jeans, no sick ppl! Please be sure you are healthy in order to go, we don’t want to infect any children with illnesses! Dates: Sunday November 8 th at 2:00 PM Sunday November 15 at 2:00 PM Its very enjoyable and a great experience, come sign up after the meeting!

Planning on Achieving College Excellence Claire, VP Linnea, VP Mentoring program @ Holt Junior High School Located in Holt, MI (15 minutes from MSU Campus) Help 6th, 7th, & 8th graders with homework -Math (algebra-middle school level)** -Science (middle school level) -English (middle school level) Also, these students love to hear about your day at MSU. You are not just a tutor, you are a mentor to a younger generation! Think POSITIVE ROLE MODEL!

PACE Available to: ALL NSCS members and Non-NSCS students (so you can bring a friend!) Program Times: 2:30 PM-3:30 PM MONDAY-FRIDAY 8:00 AM-10:00 AM Wednesday MORNING (twice on Wednesday) ***We do carpool so if you don’t have a ride, we will find one for you! How To Get Involved?? NSCS Chapter Apparel We want your advice! -T-shirts vs. long sleeve? -Hoodie vs. crew neck sweat shirt? Rules: Michigan State University and NSCS must be somewhere on the apparel Please look on the this powerpoint for the T-shirt and sweatshirt outline. We will be taking people’s design ideas and the winners will get their winning design for free!! We really want your input! (Please also include the color of shirt and font in your designs!)

NSCS Apparel We will show the designs at our next meeting to vote and then you can sign up for which designs and style of shirt that you want. (there may be more than a couple winners depending on votes!) The shirts will be available at our last meeting of the semester.

Book Scholarship A book scholarship of $150 dollars will be awarded to the member with the most points at the end of the year, if there is a tie it will also be determine by member’s engagement and commitment to NSCS.

Applebee’s Fundraiser Night Date to be decided We would love ppl to come to Applebee’s! We will need people at the door promoting the event, or just coming with friends to eat! Let’s Recap… How to get involved: through any service activities (including the letter sending party!), volunteer for PACE, come up with your own service idea or event to bring up at the next meeting. Leadership? Ask to be a part of recruitment activities, we will be looking for positions on committees through out the year and again leading your own service activity. Come to “Applebees” to chip in and show engagement.

Next General Meeting Tuesday November 17 th @ 6:30 in South Kedzie Rm. To be determined, same hall as always. Item of the month: foods: pumpkin stuff, mashed potatoes in a box, soup, cranberry sauce, canned veggies, stuffing, etc. We are making baskets for families. We will be having a DISCover yourself activity to find your communication style. Very interesting- was an activity at the national convention and as always we will be updating you on our chapter activities and going-ons!
