1 Tumor Removal By: Jason Beneducci, Nick Ferreira and Nathan Biery

2 Planning Brain tumors are a very scary medical problem for patients who suffer from one. It once was considered one of the most frightful events that could occur. Today, however, with improving technology and the gradual unfolding of scientific understanding of the basic biology of brain tumors, patients and families can look to the future with considerably more hope. Our robot now makes it easier for surgeons to treat the hundreds of thousands of people all over the globe who suffer from brain tumors by simply using technology.

3 Research A Brain tumor itself is a solid neoplasm that is lodged in between the brain. Brain Tumors include all of the tumors that are in the upper spinal canal and cranium. They are created by a spastic cell division that is uncontrollable usually in the brain itself, the lymphatic tissue, cranial nerves, blood cells, pituitary gland, or the skull. These brain tumors may spread to other parts of the body in which they would then be called metastatic tumors. Every Brain Tumor is serious due to the fact that it is uncontrollably taking up space and there is no other way to stop it than remove it before it is too late

4 Steps to Removing a Brain Tumor 1.) The patient must be diagnosed with the tumor using some kind of imaging such as an x-ray 2.) Then the surgeon will remove a small portion of the tumor first 3.) Next the patient returns to the medical office to recieve chemotherapy to attempt to shrink the tumor so it is easily removable the next time 4.) The patient returns to get another part of the tumor removed eventually trying to remove the entire tumor ( Steps 2-4 are repeated until the entire tumor is removed if possible)

5 Development First our group constructed the basic frame of the robot which includes the wheels and the frame that holds the brick Then we constructed the claw carefully using precise measurements to ensure that the light sensor was at the right distance to see the different colored balls Next we added on the touch sensor and the ultrasonic sensor on the same expanded arm piece so that the robot would be able to recognize the stand and sense when it had touched it Lastly we added the sound sensor to the side sot started when it heard a sound and constructed the program

Our robot does not start with an x- ray scan but we are inferring that the tumor needs to be removed 2.) Our robot starts on the clap and then begins to spin in a circle in order to find the stand 3.) Once it finds the stand it moves toward the tumor and stops on the touch sensors reading 4.) Then the arm clamps down and removes the tumor 5.) Our radiator robot then comes in to shrink the remaining part of the tumor Real Procedure Our Procedure

11 Improvements To improve the robot I would change the fact that everything is so low to the ground because it makes it very hard for it to complete the task Also to make it more like the true surgery we should include some kind of x-ray scan prior to the surgery
