Technology Services Feature Overview: Learning System I mproved Student Advising with Enhanced Observer/Advisor Functionality: The new Observer Dashboard allows advisors and academic support organizations to observe more than one student through the same observer account. This capability allows them to monitor how advisees are performing in their classes. Enables faculty to quickly identify students who need more attention by defining rules against key performance metrics (Online Activity, Grades and/or Due Date). Encourages student engagement by making it easy for faculty to notify students and advisors about performance concerns via e-mail directly from the Early Warning System. Give Students More Individualized Feedback: Faculty and other graders can now provide individual feedback in addition to a grade for each student assignment, test or project. By adding comments to a grade, faculty can help explain the rationale for the grade, give positive feedback and provide suggestions for improvement.

Technology Services An undergraduate student, a faculty member a Biology undergraduate student, …portal tabs, modules, channels, tools, and courses and organizations can be based on institution roles allowing for targeted delivery of content and information. For example, the institution could create a tab that would be visible only to users with the Faculty role, and within that tab, a “School of Business Faculty News” module which would only be available to users who are Faculty members in the School of Business. Feature Overview: Community System Role-based Information Delivery

Technology Services A Module is a container for content or interactive tools. Channels use the RSS content syndication format to deliver regularly-updated headlines and content to users. Individual users can customize their personal portal pages by selecting those modules and channels most relevant to them. Feature Overview: Community System Role-based Information Delivery Channels & Modules

Technology Services Allows administrators to create multiple online stores, example, the campus Chemistry Department could have one online store that sells equipment and supplies needed for labs and Campus Parking could have another store that sold parking passes. Feature Overview: Community System eCommerce & e-Marketplace Built in e-Commerce functionality allows for an institution to charge for items via a student’s campus one-card or credit card. Items can include books, merchandise, a course, organization membership, or other items. Institutions can also charge for course enrollment and group and organization membership fees. When connected to an institutions Blackboard Transaction System students can view their account balance, transaction history, and deposit funds.

Technology Services Feature Overview: Content System Content Management Individual files can be used across multiple courses, organizations, and portal modules. Users can share their files, giving both read and write access to specific individuals, groups, and institutional roles (i.e. all biology teachers). For users outside of the institution, content owners can create "passes" that provide access and enable collaboration for specific time periods.

Technology Services Versioning, Bandwidth Control Feature Overview: Content System Allows users to automatically archive, track, and access previous versions of their files. Users can access older versions of a file to review changes or revert to an earlier version thus erasing the changes. Establish bandwidth limits by institutional roles, as well as control bandwidth settings for users based on institution role (e.g., student, faculty).
