Kennedy Assassination November 22, 1963 turning point in US history – or at least in the public’s mind - marked the beginning of the turbulence of the 1960s - mistrust of authority - the government’s attempt to explain the tragedy has never been be great 1964 Warren Commission - Lee Harvey Oswald – lone gunman - “magic bullet” theory the commission report has been called a “rush to judgment” Chief Justice Earl Warren even said that the assassination was a “puzzle wrapped in an enigma” 1979 Select House Committee on Assassination concluded that that there must have been a conspiracy, but not Fidel Castro, or Soviet Union, or the Mafia but could not identify any one group or groups specifically, then re-sealed the classified documents for 60 more years! (2039) Cast of Characters: James Garrison – New Orleans District Attorney Lee Harvey Oswald – disgruntled ex-Marine, ex-communist defector Jack Ruby – Dallas strip club owner who guns down Oswald in Dallas Police Department garage Governor John Connelly of Texas – seating front seat of limo was wounded as well (magic bullet) DAVID FERRIE - Saint Ignatius High School 1935 one year senior / expelled from JCU before it opened/BW music grad church organist/ OSS=CIA(fired)/drug addict/pilot/ aviation mentor to Oswald Abraham Zapruder fat middle aged man with a camera that caught history
