Warm up: Describe the water cycle

Objective:  Describe the water cycle  The purpose: to know water on Earth is distributed and circulated through oceans, glaciers, rivers, ground water, and the atmosphere

Notes  Watch a quick video  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77ENELQUIf4  Review vocabulary  Water cycle picture  Make a picture of the water cycle

Paper on water cycle  You are a water droplet. Narrate a short story explaining a trip that you have taken through the water cycle. Where your journey through the water cycle as a droplet begins and ends is up to you. Your narrative story must include the following:  Explanation of the phases of matter and what it would feel like to be in that phase.  Examples of good phase descriptions include: Energy, spacing, Density and movement.  A colored drawing that represents 1 memory from your trip through the water cycle.

Describe temp, density, molecules in each stage

Your water drop  Take your last name and write it BACKWARD … for example: Lopez: zepol NOW, let’s figure out the “characteristics” (yep, a word from language arts) of your character. While these characteristics may not be shared in your story, they will be helpful in the creation of your character. Choose three or more of the following questions to answer about your water drop:  Does he/she have any family members?  Who is his/her best friend?  Where does he/she live?  What is his/her favorite pastime (hobby … thing they like to do outside of school)?  What is his/her favorite color?  What is he/she most afraid of?  ________________________________?

Your paper  This section must be in your narrative.  Keeping in mind the “character” of your WATER DROP, answer the following Science Related questions:  (Think about the following words Density, Atoms/Particles, Movement, Energy, and Empty Space when answering the questions)  How does it feel to evaporate? Once again, be as descriptive as you can!  How does it feel to condense? Once again, be as descriptive as you can!  How does it feel to precipitate? Once again, be as descriptive as possible!  How does it feel to him/her when he/she falls from the sky? Do they like it? Are they afraid?  Do they want to fall faster or slower? Add a simile or a metaphor to clearly communicate how your water droplet feels as it is falling from the sky.  What sort of things did they say in the different areas of the water cycle?  What does your water drop love best about science and Mrs. Lopez?
