3 Example Find the distance between (2,1) and (5,2). D= (2 - 5)² + (1 - 2)² D= (-3)² + (-1)² D= 9+1 D= 10 D= 3.162 x1y1x2y2 -First substitute numbers for variables and solve the parentheses. -Then solve the squared number. -Add the two numbers. -Find the square root of the remaining number.
