Forces Continued Terms that you need to know

Forces Continued In most cases, an object has multiple forces working on it (e.g. gravity, normal, friction) If an object is in constant motion, the forces are called balanced forces. If an object accelerates (changes its motion), the forces on it are called unbalanced.

Forces Continued When on object is accelerating, the forces can be calculated to determine the direction and of the resultant force. This is shown as: ΣF=ma

Forces Continued To determine ΣF=ma, each opposing force must be added together. Remember, that accelerations and forces can be negative numbers since they are vector quantities. After the sum is computed, the objects motion change can be determined

Forces Continued A special force that is always present is gravitational force. Weight is the force that results when Earth’s gravity is pulling on a mass Weight is calculated by using the mass(kg) and multiplying by g(g=10m/s²) This is still F=ma
