6 6 Shared Services Project Definition A project in which the provisioning and use of 9-1-1 equipment and/or services occur between two or more PSAPs in order to “share” the funding and resourcing of the 9-1-1 equipment and/or services used to process 9-1-1 calls Includes the purchase of hardware and software www.vita.virginia.gov

7 7 Types of projects Limited to projects related to Priorities 1 through 6 from the Continuity and Consolidation Program: –CPE – Primary Mapping System – GIS: High Priority – Physical Consolidation – Call Accounting Equipment – CAD www.vita.virginia.gov

8 8 Results of FY 16 PSAP grants Received six applications totaling $2,239,470 –This amount is almost 30% of the total amount requested for the FY 16 grants The applications were received from regions 4, 5, and 7 –Four applications were submitted from Region 4 and one each from Region 5 and 7 Requests were for CPE, CAD and GIS projects www.vita.virginia.gov

9 9 NG9-1-1 CPE Projects Two grant applications are for a hosted A9-1-1 CPE and related network: –Dickenson and Lee Counties: $350,000 –Wise County and City of Norton: $350,000 Evolution from a NG9-1-1 pilot to a NENA i3 NG9-1-1 solution with an ESInet Reduce point to point connectivity costs Remove the necessity of “Data Center” style back room equipment –Eliminate most critical single points of failure www.vita.virginia.gov

10 10 CAD Projects Tazewell and Russell Counties: $350,000 –Create a point-to-point/microwave backbone, with the inclusion of shared servers and SANs, between the two PSAPs to greatly enhance capabilities to share IT resources, CAD, and mapping/GIS services Southampton County and Franklin City: $350,000 –This project will enable direct CAD-to-CAD communications and transfers between these PSAPs www.vita.virginia.gov

11 11 GIS Projects MERG 2: $339,470 –Create a GIS repository to enable a regional map and more timely update of surrounding county data in local maps for back-up/mutual aid –Project involves Twin County 9-1-1, Consolidated Wythe PSAP, and the counties of Giles, Pulaski, Bland, Floyd, and Patrick www.vita.virginia.gov

12 12 GIS Projects No VA Regional SIF Project: $500,000 –Proof of concept project for the NENA i3 Spatial Information Function (SIF) element operating on a NG9-1-1 ESInet –Prepare a regional 9-1-1 GIS data set that can be used in NG9-1-1 call routing and location validation systems –Specific jurisdictions involved in this pilot project include the counties of Stafford, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudon, and Prince William, as well as the city of Alexandria www.vita.virginia.gov
