1  Citizens comments are included on each regular monthly meeting agenda. No prior appointment is necessary to speak during the citizen comments times.  To speak on a particular agenda item, advise the attendant at the door.  To place an item on the Board's agenda, please notify the County Administrator's Office at least ten days prior to the Board meeting.  Any citizen concern can be communicated to the County Administrator by calling 980-7705 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays. All citizen complaints are recorded and responded to as soon as possible. WHEN SPEAKING BEFORE THE BOARD, PLEASE COME TO THE PODIUM AND GIVE YOUR NAME.

22 d.Ratification – There are no items submitted for ratification at this time. 1.Change Orders 2.Agreements, Grants & Other:  Victims Assistance Program FY 03 Grant Application - $110,605 (State Grant – Approval is requested for submitting the grant application for the Victims Assistance Program.

24 f.Personnel Changes – The Board was provided with an update of recent personnel changes as prepared by Ms. Burchett.

25 g.Claytor Lake Festival Fireworks Permit – Approval by the Board for issuance of a fireworks permit for the 2002 Claytor Lake Festival to be held on Friday, June 7, is requested.

26 h.Resolution of Support for Eradicating Black Vultures - The Board was provided with correspondence from Montgomery County Administrator Jeff Johnson requesting the Board adopt the resolution requesting the U. S. Department of Agriculture, the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Agriculture, and federal and state legislators for support in eradicating predator problems from Black Vultures. Also, the Board was provided with correspondence from Extension Agent Richard White addressing the history and current conditions.

27 i.Appropriation to New River Valley Fair Association - Appropriation of $600 is requested to assist the Fair Association in preparation of its annual brochure. The Board provided similar funding in 2001 and this is the 50 th anniversary of the Fair Association.

28 j.Resolution Designating April as “Cleanup the County” Month - Adoption of the resolution designating April of 2002, and each year thereafter, as “Cleanup the County Month” is requested.

29 k.Designation of May as Mental Health Month – The New River Community Services Board has requested the Board of Supervisors adopt the proclamation declaring May 2002 Mental Health Month. Adoption of the proclamation is recommended.
