5.   The smog was created by a period of cold weather, combined with anticyclone and windless conditions, collected airborne pollutants mostly from the use of coal to form a thick layer of smog over the city.  It lasted from December Friday 5th 1952 to March 1953 How did it happened?

10.  Health problems One of the health problems the smog caused was respiratory tract infections from hypoxia and as a result mechanical obstruction of the air passages by pus arising from lung infections caused by the smog. The lung infections were mainly bronchopneumonia and accurate purulent bronchitis superimposed upon chronic bronchitis.
