8 Creating and Configuring Web Sites Web sites are the top-level containers that provide access to Web content Every Web site must map to a physical path on the server Site binding is the protocols, ports and other settings that will be used to connect to the Web server including: Type: specifies the protocol that will be used to connect to the Web server (HTTP, HTTPS) IP Address: the list of IPs on which the server will respond Port: Specifies the TCP port on which the server will listen and respond Host Name: this text setting allows multiple Web sites to share the same protocol type, IP address, and port number while still allowing users to connect to different Web sites.
