2  India is about 1/3 the size of the United States, yet it is the second most populous country in the world, with a population of 1,166,079,217. India is the seventh largest country in the world, at 1.27 million square miles.  It is the biggest democracy in the world.  Some Indians don’t use toilet paper they think it repellent, they use their left hand and throw water at the appropriate direction.

3  To avoid polluting the elements fire, earth, water, air. Followers of Zoroastrianism in India don’t bury their dead, but instead leave bodies in buildings called Towers of Silence for the vultures to pick clean. After the bones dry, they are swept into a central well  Many Indian wives will never say their husband’s name aloud, as it is a sign of disrespect. When addressing him, the wife will use several indirect references such as ji or look here or hello or even refer to him as the father of her child.

5  The flag of India is : orange, white and green with a blue decorated circle in the middle.  The meaning of the flag is :  The NATIONAL FLAG OF INDIA: is officially described in the Flag Code of India as follows: The colour of the top panel shall be India saffron Kesari and that of the bottom panel shall be India green. The middle panel shall be white, bearing at its centre the design of Ashoka Chakra in navy blue colour with 24 equally spaced spokes.

6  India is a magical paradise for people who love food. Eating Indian food is an elaborate function. India is a land of diversified food culture because of religious, geographical and cultural verities. Moreover history of the country has great influence in its food.  Chicken Tikka Masala is a very popular food in India: it consists of: Chicken balls in a very thick sauce with Pilau rice which is a special Indian rice it is a brownish colour with green herbs in it.

7  NEW DELHI : Nine people were killed in a fire on a train in western India early Wednesday, railway authorities said.  The blaze ripped through three coaches of the Dehradun Express train at around 2.30 a.m., western railway spokesman Sharat Chandrayan told CNN. The train was headed to Dehradun, in northern India, from Mumbai when the fire broke out. Five of the bodies have been identified, Chandrayan said. The others are being kept in a hospital 125 kilometers from Mumbai.  There were no serious injuries.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

It remains Delhi's worst flood to date.  4 1988  Continuous torrential rain in the hills from September 21 raised the Yamuna's level from to 206.92m at the Old Railway Bridge. Many areas were affected.

9  3 1995  In Sept, river touched 206.93m. While release from Tajewala was massive, Delhi didn't let out water from Okhla barrage fast enough. Around 15,000 families lived in temporary shelters on main road for two months.  2 2010  Towards the end of September, the Yamuna rose to 207.11m and stayed at that level for eight hours. Areas like Kashmere Gate, Batla House, parts of Ring Road, Jaitpur and Majnu Ka Tila were flooded. Back flow from sewers submerged hundreds of houses in low areas.  1 2013  The water level of Yamuna crossed the danger mark of 204.83 metres and it reached 206.40 metres on June 19. The Flood Control and Irrigation department said the water level would touch 207.05 meters. Authorities evacuated around 1,500 people from various low-lying areas in east Delhi.

He spent most of his time fighting for the independence of India. He led the Salt March to protest against the British. He went to Law School in London. He had a Law Office in South Africa. Gandhi was killed on January 30, 1948. He influenced Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela and millions of other people.  He was one a train once and had bought a first class ticket the attenders told him to move to the 3 rd class carriage he didn’t want to he fought against it they only wanted to move him because he was black. INDIA SHALL BE FREE!!!

11  Indian money is called rupees. It is not allowed to be transported out of the country.  India was one of the first issuers of coins. In India, coins were introduced around 6th century BC. Due to such an early introduction of the coin, the monetary units have seen a fantastic history and gone through many changes under different rulers in pre-Independence era as well as in a free India.  Throughout its history, coins and the monetary system has seen ups and downs but it was during the Mughal Period that a consolidated monetary system came into existence. The earliest coins, on the basis of their manufacturing style were known as ‘punch-marked’ coins  One Indian Rupee is as much as 12c in Euro.

12  In 1788, the British Joseph Banks, reported to the British East India Company that the climate in certain British controlled parts of north east India was ideal for tea growing. But his idea was ignored.  In 1823 and 1831, Robert Bruce and his brother Charles, an employee of the East India Company confirmed that the tea plant was indeed a native of the Assam area and sent seeds and specimen plants to officials at the newly established Botanical Gardens in Calcutta. But again, nothing was done.  Most of the time the woman in the family have to go around and collect the tea leaves. They have big baskets on their back which they put all the tea leaves in you can see what it ;looks like in the picture. We have to do this all the time,

13  Mumbai is an incredible city. Its been said before sometimes, the city itself seems alive throbbing. The city is life itself and like life you never know what’s going to happen next.  Some incredible things however take place on a regular basis.  Some, we’re used to and are well known others not so much.  Spare a thought for those first time visitors to the city, for everything they encounter everything they come across, that’s too insane to be real but totally is.
