In light of Christ’s battle for our feedom, let’s examine evidence of our memorial in Him as we recognize the likeness of our celebration of our military. In light of Christ’s battle for our feedom, let’s examine evidence of our memorial in Him as we recognize the likeness of our celebration of our military. 1. On Memorial Day we Mourn the Loss A. We remember the loved ones who died A. We remember the loved ones who died B. On the Lord’s Memorial Day, we are to examine our responsibility to Christ. The Christian must recognize that he is very responsible for His death. “If only we had not sinned he would not have had to die.” B. On the Lord’s Memorial Day, we are to examine our responsibility to Christ. The Christian must recognize that he is very responsible for His death. “If only we had not sinned he would not have had to die.” Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 5:6-8 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. I am the one to blame I am the one to blame C. As we mourn the loss of Christ, realize that we are the guilty ones. And know that if there was only one sinner who was lost, He still would have died. His love is that great. C. As we mourn the loss of Christ, realize that we are the guilty ones. And know that if there was only one sinner who was lost, He still would have died. 4 Matthew 18:11-14 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. 12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? 13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. We are that lost sheep and Jesus found us. We are that lost sheep and Jesus found us.

1. On Memorial Day we Mourn the Loss 2. On Memorial Day we Remember the Lives A. Part of our emotional healing in the process of grief is to remember the lives of the loved one who has passed. A. Part of our emotional healing in the process of grief is to remember the lives of the loved one who has passed. B. What must we remember about Jesus? B. What must we remember about Jesus? I peter 2:20 – 25 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.. 21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: I peter 2:20 – 25 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.. 21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

C. The bread that we first have broken is a reminder of the body of Christ. We are vividly reminded each time we observe this memorial that we are a part of the body of Christ. John 6:47-51, 53 - 58 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. 48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. 58This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

John 15:4,5, 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:4,5, 4 Abide in me, and I in you. 10 John 10:17,18 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again John 10:17,18 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again I Cor 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
