4 What is the Michigan CAP?  The Michigan College Access Portal (Michigan CAP) is a one-stop college access resource for Michigan’s K-12 youth and adult learners  Michigan CAP https://www.michigancap.org/ is a free, easily accessible web platform that a person can use throughout their educationhttps://www.michigancap.org/  MCC believes that the Michigan CAP is a fantastic college access resource  We encourage you to introduce this platform to the youth and adult learners you serve © 2011, Michigan Campus Compact. 5 How To Register for Michigan CAP © 2011, Michigan Campus Compact. All rights reserved  In order to use Michigan CAP, each person must register with an email address and password. If they do not have an email address, they can register any name that looks like an email address, i.e. annie@annie.comannie@annie.com  Specific instructions for registering can be found on any of MCC’s Michigan CAP one- page resources  Youth must choose their high school when they register as a student. Almost all Michigan schools are on the portal

7 Using Michigan CAP’s Resources  Portfolio category  Here, you can help youth/adult learners create a portfolio of their academic, work and volunteer experiences Michigan CAP will auto-populate this information in the Super App, a generalized application that many of Michigan’s colleges and universities accept as a admission application  Allows users to search for and save a list of the Michigan colleges and universities they are interest in  Enables users to search for and save a list of available scholarships  Users can upload documents, such as college application essays and academic transcripts © 2011, Michigan Campus Compact. All rights reserved  Colleges category  Users can search for Michigan colleges and universities Can search by size, number of miles from home, academic requirements, sports and activities are more Can save searches for later use  Users can create a list of schools they are interested in  Users can compare Michigan colleges and universities on their MiCAP College List based on any combination of four criteria Key factors, undergraduate info, academic info, financial info

9 Using Michigan CAP’s Resources  Paying for College category  Users can learn the basics about financial aid and college payment options  They can use a tool to estimate their Expected Family Contribution (EFC), which is officially determined by the FAFSA  Users can see an estimate of the total costs of attending colleges and universities in Michigan  They can calculate the estimated costs of college loans  Users can search for scholarships based on various criteria Academics, Work and Volunteer Experience, Personal Characteristics, Personal Affiliations, Deadlines, Recently Added © 2011, Michigan Campus Compact. All rights reserved  Planning category  You can help youth or adult learners take quizzes to explore their interests and skills  Users can also take an assessment to discover careers that fit their goals and strengths  They can also learn about college entrance exams and find links to practice tests  Users can learn about developing a resume, cover letter and also research careers

All rights reserved  Because the Michigan CAP is such a comprehensive resource for K-12 youth and adult learners, MCC has created several one-page resources about its features  These “one-pagers” are designed for CPVs to help the youth or adult learners they serve use specific activities and resources on Michigan CAP, and also help these individuals explore the site as a whole
