3. AFL information! AFL was invented in 1897 formerly known as Victorian Football League. There is 18 teams in the Australian football league. Affectionately known as Footy or Aussie Rules. Essentially, it’s about two opposing teams attempting to kick goals to finish the game with the biggest points tally. A goal is scored when the football is kicked through the two tall posts and is worth six points.

4. Cricket information The The Australian cricket team is the national cricket team of Australia. It is the joint oldest team in Test cricket, having played in the first Test match in 1877. The team also plays One Day International cricket and Twenty20 International, participating in both the first ODI, against England in the 1970–71 season and the first Twenty20 International, against New Zealand in the 2004–05 season, winning both games. The team draws its players from teams playing in the Australian domestic competitions – the Sheffield Shield, the Australian domestic limited-overs cricket tournament and the Big Bash League. The Australian team has played 773 Test matches, winning 362, losing 205, drawing 204 and tying two. Australia is ranked the number-one team overall in Test cricket in terms of overall wins, win-loss ratio and wins percentage. As at 10 January 2015, Australia is ranked second in the Test Championship on 118 rating points, 6 points behind South Africa.

5. HORSE RIDING The first race was held in 1861 over two miles (3.219 km) but was shortened to 3,200 metres (1.988 miles) in 1972 when Australian adopted the metric system. The race is a quality handicap for horses 3 years old and over, run over a distance of 3,200 metres, on the first Tuesday in November at Flemington Racecourse. The Melbourne Cup race is a handicap contest in which the weight of the jockey and riding gear is adjusted with ballast to a nominated figure. Older horses carry more weight than younger ones, and weights are adjusted further according to the horse's previous results. The Melbourne Cup is Australia's major thoroughbred horse race. Marketed as "the race that stops a nation", it is a 3,200 metre race for three-year-olds and over.
