2.  High Blood Pressure can be when your heart beats too many times in one minute or your heart could beat the correct amount of times but the vessels taking the blood that the heart pumps are too thin, this means that the heart is working extra hard to pump the same amount of blood around the body as it does in normal sized blood vessels.

3.  There are blood vessels inside the eye which are visible to an optician.  Your optometrist can use a special retinal camera or a torch to view these vessels directly.  Your optician will examine the shape of your blood vessels and can advise you to have your blood pressure checked by your GP if they think necessary.

4.  Your optometrist will refer you to your GP for a routing blood pressure check up.
