Review Question Procedures Purpose: Reinforce information taught in previous classes – lets you know what you learned and what you may need to review to prepare for a quiz/test NO NOTES TO START After you have completed the work to the best of your ability WITHOUT notes, you may reference anything in your folder All review questions are GRADED

Review Questions!! What are the 5 Health Related Fitness Components? What are the 6 Skill Related Fitness Components?

Cardiorespiratory Fitness The ability of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels to send fuel and oxygen to the body’s tissues during long periods of vigorous exercise.

PULSE The number of heart beats per minute Unit of measurement - Carotid artery (neck) - Radial artery (wrist)

RESTING HEART RATE The number of heart beats per minute at rest newborn (0-3 months old) infants (3 — 6 months) infants (6 — 12 months) children (1 — 10 years) children over 10 years & adults, including seniors well- trained adult athletes 100-15090–12080-12070–13060–10040–60 **Normal pulse rates at rest, in beats per minute

TARGET HEART RATE ZONE the range in beats per minute (bpm) in which you want to exercise in order to safely get the best results from aerobic exercise. -20 minutes or more… -Helps to determine how hard you need to work (intensity)

RECOVERY HEART RATE the number of beats per minute that your heart rate drops when you stop moving. The faster, the better…

-A lower resting heart rate = higher level of fitness -A faster recovery heart rate = higher level of fitness -Target heart rate zone must be recalculated over time to make sure that an individual is getting the most benefit possible.

AEROBIC ACTIVITY exercise that is sustained for an extended period of time that requires the use of oxygen. Most common - - running, biking, swimming

How to improve cardiorespiratory fitness

MEASURING HEART HEALTH Blood Pressure: the measurement of the force applied to the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood through the body Healthy: 120/80 Prehypertension: 120-139/80-89 High Blood Pressure Stage 1: 140-159/90-99 High Blood Pressure Stage 2: 160+/ 100+ Hypertensive Crisis: 180+/110+
