2 THE FACTORY  The Factory was the name of Andy Warhol’s NYC studio (1962-1984)  The original Factory was referred to as the Silver Factory as it was decorated with tin foil, silver paint, broken mirrors  Warhol produced: shoes, films, sculptures, commissioned work, silkscreen portraits  The Factory was a place where artists, socialites, musicians, writers, people in the film industry, etc. would hang out and put together legendary parties and collaborations  By using the silkscreen process Warhol could mass-produce images which he likened to the mass-production of consumer goods
