Every morning I wake up convinced that I wrote Lord of the Rings." The doctor nods and replies, "Don't worry, you've just been Tolkien in your sleep." Thus, adopt a textbook and the sooner the better!

4 Timely submissions critical Online entry of textbook adoptions The Registrar can obtain this information and place it on a publicly available website Students can view required materials when making course selections if they choose Students can shop around and any bookstore can stock these books to ensure good prices UIC Bookstore can know that a book will be reused and keep used books on hand

5 Online entry Fall and summer student registration begins April 1 Spring registration begins November 1 The point of registration is when textbook adoptions are to be on the online schedule of classes Adoptions should thus be settled prior to April 1 and November 1 each cycle

6 Web page found at Registrar site http://registrar.uic.edu Select Faculty, then Textbook Adoptions “Bluestem” access using netid and password ▫Staff or department reps can enter via Bluestem and enter information on your behalf ▫If you have no materials required, enter at this site to indicate 0 (zero) books required. You will then NOT get reminders to complete textbook adoptions.

11 Submission process and follow-up A response is generated to the submitter of textbook adoptions of what materials have been submitted Questions can be directed to faculty_textbooks@uic.edu faculty_textbooks@uic.edu Or phone Rob Dixon, 312-996-9499 It takes 7 to 8 business days for textbook adoptions to be uploaded into the online schedule of classes (data is cleaned and batch loaded)
